1. How will the integration of passport services with the Bangalore one project work to the benefit of the public in Bangalore?
Residents of Bangalore already benefit from the 14 hi-tech citizen service centres in various parts of the city, which provide various services relating to BMP, BESCOM, BSNL, BWSSB, police, RTO, stamps and registration etc., all under one roof. A new service namely the acceptance of passport applications is also being added to the bouquet of services being provided by these centres. The public will now be able to submit applications for a passport at any of these 5 centres viz., Malleshwaram, RT Nagar, Jayanagar, Airport road and Vijayanagar which are located in several parts of the city, reducing the need to travel long distances from one part of the city to another. Though these centres work on a 24 x 7 basis, the passport-seeking public can avail these services only between 9.00 am to 8.00 pm.Consequent to the diversion of applicants for fresh passports to Bangalore one centres, the crowding at the Passport Office premises is also expected to reduce substantially.
